Corbett School District Summer School

Incoming Corbett High School students that have not made adequate yearly progress (7 credits per year)  are expected to attend summer school.  Other students may be considered on a space-available basis.  Please contact Cassie Duprey (cduprey@corbett.k12.or.us) with questions or concerns.

F.A.Q.

How much does summer school cost?
Nothing.  This program is provided free of charge.

What are the dates/times of summer school?
Monday-Friday, June 9-27th, 8 am - 3 pm.

What classes will I take?
Course enrollment will be determined by transcript needs.  After a student is registered, the student's transcript will be analyzed and a confirmation email (with course enrollment) will be sent.

How many credits can I recover?
Depends on how much work gets done.  In order to facilitate maximum potential credit recovery, summer school will utilize online classes with teacher support.  Students should expect to earn a minimum of 2 credits.  However, please keep in mind students must complete work and pass tests to earn credit.  Attendance does not earn credits.

What if I need help?

Math, science, social studies, and English help will be available to students throughout the day.

Why I have to come to summer school to take an online class?
Though students can complete pretests and lessons anywhere, tests must be taken at school to ensure academic honesty.  Because students progress at varying rates and need varying levels of assistance, it is quite challenging for students to complete significant amounts of work from home.  The structured, quiet environment at summer school enabled more than 100 trimesters of credit to be recovered during the 2013 Summer School.

What is the schedule?

8:00:    Class begins
9:30:    Break
9:40:    Class resumes
11:10:   Lunch
11:50:   Class resumes
1:20:     Break
1:30:     Class resumes
3:00:     Dismissal

What if I get all my work done before summer school ends?
Attendance will no longer be expected.  Students have varying amounts of credits to recover, so some students should finish their classes before June 28th.  Such students are no longer expected to attend summer school.

What if I don't finish my classes by the end of summer school?
Credit can also be recovered through Mount Hood Community College's credit recovery program.

What about lunch and transportation?
Students are expected to provide their own lunch and transportation.  If transportation or lunch is a challenge, please contact Cassie Duprey (cduprey@corbett.k12.or.us) to make special arrangements.  At a minimum, there will be a bus transporting students from the Troutdale DQ to Corbett High School.

My question was not answered.
